Heh, you like horror movies too, huh?

They don’t make them like they used to, however last weekend I watched the Spanish move “The Orphanage” on Netflix. Man, was that thing ever scary! But in the classic creepy sense, not blood & gore & cheap tricks, y’know? I was watching it late at night and actually turned the lights on halfway through—I haven’t done that in decades. The suspense is deliciously unrelenting for almost the entire 2 hours, and the ending is a mindblower. If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out.

Here’s the trailer:

Yeah, I’ve seen quite some time ago. Have you seen “Sauna”?

I still don’t know what that film was about, but it was pretty impressive for me, especially cinematography.

And of course “Let the right one in”, but I guess everybody’s seen it ;-)

Oooh, no, I haven’t seen either one; I’ll have to check Netflix for both. Thanks! I don’t watch much TV and I never go to the theater to see movies when they first out, so I’m unaware of most of movies until they’ve been out for a year or more.

“Sauna” is “not for everyone”, but LTROI is a must see.

I could also recommend Svankmajer’s “Sileni” (“Lunacy”); it’s not horror per se, more like an absurdist rendering of Poe’s stories. I was impressed, but then again, I’m biased cause I love Svankmajer.

My first impulse, if I had the skill to do it, would be to return the compliment. Manipulate the footage of Rush Limbeckannity et al to make them sound like pinko commie liberals.

Then release the video on YouTube, with a small-print disclaimer of course. You know the sort of thing. This is for entertainment purposes only. It would go viral. Think what you could do with Pamela Geller. I’m salivating at the thought.

Come on, all you talented progressives who know about this stuff. Step up to the plate!

And perfectly possible. The problem is that liberals are just too nice. We don’t have that go-for-the-jugular and fight-to-win attitude. A snarky comment instead of a karate chop. The Republicans/Teabaggers have it in trumps. That’s why they control the message and usually win elections.

If only Obama had the instincts of Al Capone, coupled with a Democratic agenda.

You’d think he does based on the way Fox portrays him. You’re right though, the Dems lack the killer, go for the jugular instinct. I wish Obama would stop trying to squeeze blood from a stone and start throwing sharp elbows around.

Dear President Obama: This isn’t figure skating, its Roller Derby. Please grab a helmet and some knee pads and get busy.
