Because the only moral perverts serving are the ones who publicly declare their perversion. Fetch me my irony spike, I need something to shove in my ear.

Well, it didn’t keep Janis Karpinski, Lyndie England, Charles Graner, and the rest of the Abu Ghraib moral perverts out of the armed forces.

Sounds like a …perversion.

It’s been rather enlightening to see the wingnuts whip this one out (cough). They really don’t have anything left now to defend DADT but full on homophobia—and we’re going to see a lot more of it bubble forth over DADT and gay marriage as this particular culture war ends. Look at the reactions of the AFA and FRC to being designated hate groups by the SPLC. They’re just embracing the label now. See also:

LaBarbera: “If You Are Not On The SPLC Hate List, You Are Not Doing Enough”

“I don’t feel like a homophobe; as one guy said, I’m homo-nauseated,” he continued. “They are everywhere. You can’t get away from them, even in the schools, so today we are interviewing Barb Anderson of the Minnesota Family Council.”

Both LaBarbera and Anderson agreed that AFTAH’s recognition by the SPLC is a point of pride.

“There’s a lot of hatred out there in the so-called gay lobby,” LaBarbera said.

Anderson agreed: “Absolutely. They call us a hate group but the emails and the responses we get from them are just full of anger and hateful comments that they make towards us.”

“I think it’s becoming perhaps a badge of honor to be called a hate group,” said Anderson.

LaBarbera added, “If you are not on the SPLC hate list, you are not doing enough.”

“You are not doing your job,” agreed Anderson. “I think the greatest threat to our freedom and to the health and well-being of our children is from this radical homosexual agenda which is just so pervasive.”

Because we all know that moral perversion doesn’t exist in straight people. Ever.

It’s a deeply impoverished notion of ‘morality’ that thinks morality is exclusively about one’s sexual orientation.

They’re also admitting that they see gay sexuality as a mere ‘perversion’ of straight sexuality, and further, that they believe all gay people are morally deficient — simply because of their orientation.

These sorts of arguments are always rooted in a specious notion of ‘what’s natural’, where ‘what’s natural’ is defined as ‘the status quo’— most especially where the status quo involves the oppression of a group. Oppression is almost always defended on the grounds of ‘this is the way it’s supposed to be’; whether it’s denying women the right to vote or defending the right to own other people as property, someone is sure to step up and make the argument that this is the ‘natural’ state of affairs and that those who oppose it are ‘unnatural’.

I know you know all this, I’m just ranting a bit. They’re just so blatant about this it’s horrifying.

It’s odd that these people rabidly reject the modern evidence for the wholly natural process of evolution, but wholeheartedly accept a definition of “natural” sexuality prescribed by 1st millennium BCE Middle-Eastern shepherds.

What I hate is everytime someone who does something bad just happens to be gay, people like this use it as “proof” that we should treat gays like crap. Nevermind the fact that straight people obviously comprise most of the worst murderers and tyrants in history. You never see anyone in the gay rights movement suggest that straight people are evil because of that. It’s just sick what they do. At least they’re showing more and more their true colors.
