Rilke’s Requiem für eine Freundin - a translation project

I have decided to take a crack at translating one of my favourite poems. Translating Rilke is known to be an undertaking rife with pit - and pratfalls, and many translations by otherwise competent translators fall short for various reasons. The primary reason for failure, in my (admittedly lay) opinion is that the translators are either fluent in English and native German speakers, or vice versa. I happen to be both a native speaker of German as well as English, and hope to bring a deeper cultural and emotional understanding to this project.
