3 Juárez officers ambushed slain outside school, police death toll now 64 in 2010
Three Juárez police officers were shot and killed in an ambush outside an elementary school Wednesday afternoon, and when other officers responded, they were fired on also.
Their deaths raise the number of police officers killed to 64 this year in the most violent city in Mexico.
Four officers were slain in another ambush on Saturday.
The latest ambush occurred the same day as the funeral for a Chihuahua state police investigator who was fatally shot on Monday.
Juárez police spokesman Adrian Sanchez Contreras said the ambush Wednesday occurred during a routine patrol of schools.
