Fake my ass.

They only leak common sense after the shit they ran on while campaigning didn’t win them a prize. Therefore, they’re insincere. Also, I doubt they really believe it.

Meg Whitman came across as pissed off and hateful, and a typical bullheaded Republican. That’s why she wasn’t elected. Californians would rather take another ride with Jerry Brown than Meg. That’s saying something, but people like Meg aren’t good listeners.

Oh come on. That whole thing was as manufactured as a cheap Chinese sweater from Wal Mart. The letter in question specifically states it’s not a declaration of status, just something to follow up on. Which they failed to do. But the ungrateful swine lied to her employment agency, lied to Meg (all on paper) about her status and cashed very generous paychecks.

Democrats get a free pass for far worse, if indeed Whitman did anything at all wrong. Look at Timmy Tax Cheat Geithner, for example.

Did Ms Anti-Immigrant employ an illegal immigrant? Yes.
Did the Whitman’s know about it? Yes.
Did the Whitman campaign come out with this information on their own? No.

You can use as many adjectives as you want but the facts are the facts. It’s not made up, it’s not fake and Meg Whitman isn’t a victim of anything except her own idiocy.

It’s unfair to ignore the woman lied, to her agency and Mag and hang it on Meg. Why not the agency? Because there is no political gain in attacking the agency. The facts include the young woman’s lies. Willfully setting that aside is to promote a distortion of events.

Any one of us can be fooled or lied to. So unless being deceived disqualifies one to run, Meg got screwed by Gloria.

And if Meg was a stronger candidate, it wouldn’t have mattered. She wasn’t that strong a candidate, and she was running as a Republican, and Republicans are increasingly nativist and anti-immigration. She had a giant target sign on her.

Maybe buying elections isn’t the fair accompli that it appears!

Well, Democrats don’t generally support an anti-immigration nativist platform, so yes, they’re not going to get as much shit about immigration. Whitman was moderate on immigration, but she still has that R after her name.

seems pretty logical to me!

If, if if. If Jerry did not get a free pass on his family & personal ties to Indonesian dictatorship , he’d be out too.

Buying an election has not ever been a fait accompli in the US.

What matters here is the casual acceptance of dirty politics. Something I find worth opposing or at least calling out regardless of the partisan sides.

While I wish him well as we need a good strong governor, Jerry’s win is tainted. As is Megs reputation over essentially a false issue.

The correct answer is NO, Meg was lied to. As was the hiring agency.

BTW, the Latino vote is hardly a mono bloc. Many in the Latino community support reasonable border control and immigration policies. Assuming an “open border” attitude sells them short. Those who waited for the process support a reasonable process, not open borders.

As shown here, only 67% of them opposed the Arizona bill! Hardly a unified political force there.

150 million and she couldn’t defend against such a false claim? What an underdog.

re: #10 Rightwingconspirator

Honest question. How is his win any more tainted than any political win? I am reminded of Dr. House, “Everybody lies.” If you think this taints Brown’s win than every politician’s win ever is tainted.

re: #13 sizzleRI

Well she had plenty of corporate history negatives too. “Any” political win… Well I can only go by what I see or read. Politics is dirty by nature, heck my long departed grandfather paid a big cash bribe to Jerry’s dad back in the day over an uncontested bill to get it signed. (Raised pawn interest rates)

But when I see what looks like a falsehood, I prefer it get called out. So I really like Factcheck, opensecrets.org and similar.

Now Gloria Allred has another feather in her cap, she manipulated a Governors election.

re: #15 Rightwingconspirator

No contention with any of that, and Gloria Allred gives feminists and lawyers a bad name. I just use a a reasonability test for political races. It has to be grossly more unethical and dishonest than usual to raise my ire. The rest of it seems like part of the game.

Any objective observer can visit California and see who the engines of the state’s economy are. Whitman ran on demagoguery towards that population, while exploiting them herself.

Good riddance.

LOL, okay, the CEO of a huge internet corporation doesn’t know how to use the internet to verify an employee’s SSN. Using your logic everyone who’s ever employed an illegal is utterly blameless if the employee lied to them, even if the SS administration keeps sending the employer WTF letters as they’re prone to do in such cases. Whitman’s story doesn’t even pass the smell test, but please do on believing that she’s the most credulous tech billionaire who ever lived.

Does not know how? Nice straw man there. Does not bother once the task is delegated and treats the matter as routine and trivial more likely. In my view anyway. BTW I’m not a fan of hers. I maintain this was a moment of dirty politics far more than one of hypocrisy.

For years, and years, and years, and years she ignored her ignorance of this so called triviality, until she decided to run for office. Then she fired the housekeeper and kept the whole thing secret throughout an incredibly contentious Republican primary battle that revolved to a great degree around the immigration debate. I thought conservatives were all about taking personal responsibility and not making pathetic excuses for their own failure to perform basic due diligence.

What kind of jackass gambles $150 million on the hope that such a skeleton will stay in the closet?

Do you quote Sean Hannity in all your responses? And do you think your ONE example proves anything close to a rule?

Your comment is a total non sequitir, classic diversionary tactic. Whitman and Geithner have nothing to do with one another. As for Dems always getting a free pass compared to Republicans, tell that to Eliot Spitzer as opposed to David Vitter. Or Larry Craig. Or John Ensign. Fact is that for every Geithner there’s a Van Jones. Smears and double standards are a two way street, not the sole property of one party.
