What an asshole:

“In countries where religions and cultures find homosexual acts immoral, the Obama administration’s repeal policy will work to the detriment of all American troops in securing local cooperation with our nation’s foreign-policy goals.”

Yet again, the GOP is saying we should be more like Saudi Arabia.

Apparently the GOP hates the Saudis except when it comes to building NY Mosques and gay people.

Indeed. So if “securing local cooperation with our nation’s foreign-policy goals” is to be a deciding factor on the issue of DADT, should we also roll back certain constitutional amendments to appease countries that consider women to be property, slaves in essence, to the males of society?

So far I have yet to see a single argument against gays serving in the military, or against gay marriage for that matter, that isn’t based on the most piss poor logic available to a grown, thinking person.

Oh snap! Good one Obdi. That is a point that had not even occurred to me, and one that should be hammered like a stubborn nail every time someone brings up such a ludicrous talking point as the one Marshal uses.

And he seems to use all the popular ones that are circulating in the homophobosphere:

“This policy will weaken military recruitment and retention, and will increase pressure for a military draft,” Marshall told the Post. “After 232 years of prohibiting active, open homosexuals from enlisting in our military, President Obama and a majority in Congress are conducting a social experiment [SB- a variation on the “social engineering” talking point] with our troops and our national security…In countries where religions and cultures find homosexual acts immoral, the Obama administration’s repeal policy will work to the detriment of all American troops in securing local cooperation with our nation’s foreign policy goals.”

Claire Guthrie Gastanaga also nails a very valid point right here:

“It is a shame that Delegate Marshall would dishonor the brave men and women serving in our National Guard by seeking to make political points at their expense and waste the time of his colleagues in the Virginia General Assembly, who have pressing matters to attend to, like balancing the budget and finding solutions to the traffic problems that are the real and present concern of his constituents,” she told the Times.

I doubt we’ll see the “Stop Wasting Tax Dollars” Teahadis pick up that particular talking point, though.
