When a state agrees to take federal money to self-regulate (in whatever area, environment, food inspection, etc), the state has to agree that its regulations will be at least as stringent (or more stringent) than the feds.

Texas surely knows this. Why Rick Perry wants to make it an issue is anybody’s guess - well, mebbe not.

Apparently Perry thinks he’s the law. What a jackass. Somebody needs to remind him that Texas ceased being an independent republic with its own president over 164 years ago.

I think you’re right. Politicians seem to excel at that kind of crap.

I was wondering what would happen if a city or county refused to follow a Texas state law or regulation. I’m sure Perry would come down on them hard & fast with every bit of clout at his disposal.
