WikiLeaks Task Force Has Funny New Name
In order to deal with the recent WikiLeaks incident in which 250,000 US cables were released, the CIA has created a task force to assess the impact of the leak. The task force will be appropriately called the WikiLeaks Task Force, but most refer to it by its abbreviated form: WTF.
According to the Washington Post, the task force’s abbreviated form is used more frequently than the official name at CIA headquarters, which is a funny thing to imagine for those who know the acronym’s other meaning.
“WTF,” an acronym for “what the fuck?,” is often found among the conversation of teenagers and young adults between text messages, Facebook, or Twitter. However, considering the U.S. government’s shock over such a massive leak, the acronym, which is often used to express extreme outrage and disbelief, seems rather appropriate.
