Applause-Gate Bloggers Mistake Effect for Cause
This idiot still doesn’t get it:
directorblue.blogspot.comUpdate: Charles Johnson: ‘Shut up, wingnuts! Everyone knows that the respectful crowd could distinguish closed captioning from commands to applaud… because all memorial services use Jumbotrons, free T-shirts and $3 drafts!
He thinks that the closed captioning included the words “applause” (or rather “[applause]”) before anyone applauded. In other words, Obama’s minions infiltrated the closed captioning company and told them to insert the word “[applause]” even when no one is applauding.
If video surfaces (showing the correct cause-effect relationship), this idiocy will hopefully be laid to rest. But then they will say: “Well, you can’t blame us for thinking the closed captioning caused the applause since that is the kind of thing Obama would do.”
In fact, this episode is very disturbing since it shows that people are willing to believe the most implausible conspiracy theory as long as it fits with their political agenda.
