Better use for Brazilian sugar cane leavings than fuel ethanol
Also would serve as an end-around on tariff blocks on importation of ethanol into the U.S. from Brazil. Make it into polypropylene or polyethylene first.
And note that being able to market these plastic stocks as “green” is a major selling point from both a global warming and a oil-usage standpoint. Which will initially allow the product to be sold at a premium price as well. (And to the best of my knowledge the limited amounts on the market now are already snapped up quite quickly.)
