If the defendant is innocent, why do the defense lawyers talk about her "neuropsychological issues" and such? And why reveal your strategy before the trial?

re: #2 ClaudeMonet

Because it's pretty much an airtight case, she's going to lose the trial, most Homicide convictions have a quarter of evidence presented. Since it is a racially motivated murder of 9-year old, they're pretty much trying to avoid the death penalty.

Move along please! No right-wing violence inspired by extreme, racist rhetoric to see here. ///

I understand that, but claiming she's innocent at the same time helps neither claim. Pick your lie, make sure everyone on your team agrees on it, and stick with it.

Revealing your strategy or strategies before the trial is a bad move IMO. One of the defense's few advantages is that they don't have to give the prosecution anything, so why do it?

They may be throwing Martyr Cookies to the wingnuts, so that she can be painted as the "VICTIM OF GOVERNMENT RAILROADING!!!11" when she gets convicted.

How does that best serve the interests of THE CLIENT? It may be a political plus in the so-called minds of some mouth-breathers, and it may advance the caseload and financial status of the lawyers, but how does it help the accused?

It doesn't. It's designed to make the clients feel like victims while lining the lawyer's pockets.

If that's the case, this should be a matter for the state bar association to consider. Yes, I know, even if the state association has the stones to try to intervene, it will be a useless endeavor, with the defense lawyers claiming their rights are being violated, that the state association is affiliated with "Them", etc.

Would the judge be remiss in privately counseling the defense lawyers to reconsider their tactics and public statements? Or would that be further evidence of "bias" and the judge being a dupe of "Them"?

Dear God, this is nauseating. Especially how cold blooded the killing went.

Even more nauseating is how her supporters are expressing themselves. "Blonde on the border"? WTF is that supposed to mean? A play on "Mexican while driving"?

I'm usually against death penalty. But this goes beyond any redemption. I'll make an exception for these murderers.

It doesn't help Forde's case. However, if they want to continue pushing the martyr narrative, they need her in jail, preferably with a long and harsh sentence. Long enough, that she can be pardoned by a like-minded politician elected due to the expected martyrdom wave.

Actually, that could get the judge in a good bit of trouble. The defense attorneys could use such a conversation to argue that the judge is biased, and even if they didn't the prosecution could make the same claim. Such a conversation would likely end with the judge being removed from the case.

Why the hell did it take so long for emergency people to get there?
Good grief. I'm at 8 1/2 minutes now and no emergency folks are with her.

theye1: Thank you for bringing this back to people's attention.

IMO, That 'woman' and anyone else responsible for these murders needs to face the death penalty.

I mean, I'm listening to the 911 operator trying to keep her talking, while this lady is losing consciousness.

Perhaps no ambulances were close by.

Thank you for helping to publicize this atrocity.

18 HappyWarrior  Mon, Jan 24, 2011 2:59:39am

I read about this story. So sad. My youngest brother is the same age of the victim. What has always bothered me about the anti illegal immigration political movement is how they refuse to see these people as fellow human beings.

19 Michael Orion Powell  Mon, Jan 24, 2011 3:28:24am

None of this stuff should come as any surprise to anyone paying attention. Straight up fascists are making their intentions known right in front of everyone on their websites, deep in the netherworld of the internet. Places like this, for instance: [Link: secureamericaforever.com...]

It's not a problem of crazy people. This is totally political and driven by hate.
