Pueblo Politics: Pima County Republicans launch anti-Dupnik campaign
Right. Nothing to do with the recall, but if they can raise some money by jumping on the bandwagon, well, they’re Republicans, right? They don’t need a candidate yet to launch the campaign. The Pima County Republican Party is already gearing up for the 2012 elections by launching a website today aimed at electing a new Pima County Sheriff to replace Clarence Dupnik.
The site, dumpsheriffdupnik.com, was launched today, said Brian Miller, chair of the Pima County Republican Party.
“We aim to elect a new sheriff in 2012,” Miller said. “We want to be able to help affect the lead up into the 2012 elections and we’re asking people for support to help hire a new sheriff.”

Miller said the Republican Party’s site has nothing to do with the recall.
“Republicans have always wanted a new sheriff in there. If he continues to behave in an unprofessional manner, that only raises the stakes,” Miller said.
The site includes a donation meter with a $100,000 goal. Miller said the party plans to help elect other Republicans in 2012, but no one has yet announced a campaign for sheriff.
