How is that Christian? It's barely even Jewish, since Judaism looks at far more than just Genesis 1 & 2.

These people are insane.

You're right. It could be changed to: All you need is Genesis 1 & 2, and all the rest of the books of the Talmud and the Torah, and the oral tradition.

But then you get all sorts of stuff about having to provide for the poor and stuff, so we can't have that.

Thank you for writing that. I could not have said it better.

Yeah, but even then, building public policy on that would make this a Jewish nation, not a Christian one, which would be anathema for these nutbars.

The AFA insist we're a Christian nation, yet they're ignoring damn near all of the Old Testament along with ALL of the New Testament and Jesus by insisting that all we need is Genesis 1 & 2. How does that make any sense?

Maybe we only need part of the Constitution too... Great plan. School books could stop after a couple chapters. Think of the time and paper we'd save.

Of course it will have to be interpreted by scholars and pastors and Holy Leaders who will know the true meanings of the words and psalms. And I wonder where these people will come from? They have a plan alright. Yep.

Well the AFA are a bunch of ignoramuses after all. It's stupid really if you ask me. These same people are the ones convinced that America is becoming "Islamized" yet want to shove their own religion on the rest of us. I'm not anti religion but I do believe that teh 1st amendment gives us not just the freedom to practice whatever religion we want but also freedom from being dominated by one religion and frankly that's a great thing and it's why many people came to this country in the first place.

It's written in holy scripture, isn't it? You really can't be either if you don't believe in that.

I didn't know that the constitution references the first book of the Bible.

Good point. Calling us a Christian nation makes about as much sense as calling us a "white nation". A majority isn't the whole, and the Christian population, proportionally speaking, is declining while Hinduism, Buddism, Islam, atheism, etc. are growing.

The white nation/Christian nation rhetoric is nothing more than ignorant nostalgia for a bygone era.

Slight correction -- it's ignorant nostalgia for a bygone era that never actually existed. It's all just a revisionist myth that these imbeciles live on, like the teabaggers suggesting that the Founders worked tirelessly to end slavery, or that the Pilgrims came here to escape European socialism.
