Soldier Killed, Four Others Injured In Fresh Thai-Cambodia Skirmish
A Thai soldier was killed and four others injured in a fresh skirmish between Thai and Cambodian troops on Saturday, near the disputed border area.
The deceased was identified as Sergeant Wuthicharin Chartkamdee.
Thai Army spokesman Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Wuthicharin and the other four soldiers were involved in a 40-minute exchange of fire which began about 6.20am.
The gunfight occurred at the disputed area of 4.6 sq km claimed by both countries and near the 11th century Preah Vihear Hindu Temple located in Cambodia which was listed as a World Heritage side in 2008 by Unesco.
