Danish Court Sentences Somali To 9 Years For Attempted Attack On Cartoonist Kurt Westergaard
The Danish authorities have sentenced Mohamed Geele to nine years in prison for the attempted attack on cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, who participated in a cartoon collection that included multiple cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammad. Following the completion of his sentence, Geele will be permanently expelled from Denmark.
Geele was convicted Thursday of attempted terrorism, attempted manslaughter and attacking a police officer with a knife and an ax, according to prosecutors. Geele had attempted to break into Westergaard’s home with the intent to kill him but was thwarted by security and police shot Geele in the process of subduing him.
