It is not his place to try and change their minds. He is supposed to report to us in an unbiased way.

You would not want to pollster to be trying to disabuse them of their beliefs.

That said, the sekret muslim idea is the 2nd most stupid idea out there.

It is a belief that I feel is just as stupid as the “GWB was a moron who was the puppet of Cheney.”

Of course W. really is stupid and Cheney really did have undue and unprecedented influence for a VP. But don’t let little things like the truth get in your way there big guy. You never do anyway.

Hi Buck,

The idea, back then, was that these left wing fools were acting in ways counterproductive to rational discourse. Implied, was that if a Democrat or liberal were to be elected President, the conservatives would act appropriately. That hasn’t exactly occurred.

And if you believe that this focus group wasn’t stacked, I got a bridge to sell ya.

Does that bridge pass over my beachfront land in Nebraska? If so, I’ll toss it in as a bonus for anyone who wants to buy. ;)

Wow! That’s a whole lot of stupid in one place.

Surrounded by morons!

I wonder what percentage of Portland, Oregon thinks Obama is a muslim, probably not half, because we actually can tie our own shoes and operate bicycles without hurting ourselves

I propose an intelligence test about the president, take it to ten or twenty major cities, see which ones are full of idiots and got sold the klansman line from the tea party

Every side of it is stupid. He’s not a Muslim. But if he was, so what?

We have a government composed of citizens. Some citizens are Muslims. Therefore, I’d expect that in a truly representative government, eventually we will have some Muslim presidents. Not wanting such an outcome is equivalent to hoping for the oppression of that religion.

Well there are many wingnuts who think you can’t be a Muslim and good American at the same time. It reeks of the same crap that many Catholic immigrants went through in the 19th century where the ideological ancestors of these same people insisted that Catholic immigrants would be more beholden to Rome than the US.

A little later in that segment, Hannity reacts (jump to ~4:10):

Hannity: I think — look, he was in Rev. Wright’s church, which believes in Black Liberation theology, predicated on a very leftist, socialist, re-distributive model and I don’t question that aspect of President Obama, in terms of, he believes in a Christian faith, although I believe a radical one, hanging out with Wright.

Thanks for the clarifying that for your audience Hannity. He’s not an Muslim, he’s a radical, leftist, socialist, re-distributive Christian. ///

I guess that’s at least an improvement over stuff like this:

Someday you are going to learn the difference between truth and opinion. You might think he is stupid, but the FACTS tell a different story. University degrees from Harvard and Yale, achieving his Wings in Jets, being elected Governor, and of course being elected president of the United States…

Of course you seem to think that everyone who has a different opinion than yours is stupid. However that is not always the TRUTH.

BUT you are a perfect example of what I was talking about. The other side of the coin you are stuck to would say that Obama was born to a father who self identified as Muslim, and that would make Obama a Muslim. They would say that is the truth.

Maybe you don’t who the focus group was supposed to be? Perhaps you missed it when they explained it was all republican caucus voters in Iowa.

So basically, the Republican caucus voters in Iowa are idiots? Good to know. Thanks for clearing that up.

Find me a video of Democratic Party focus group where more than half of the audience said “GWB is a moron who is the puppet of Cheney” then we’ll talk.

To be fair, while Bush was president, I bet you probably could find such a group. Within that group, you might even find some people who believed or suspected that 9/11 might have been an inside job.

The man - W - enraged me sometimes, but some of the things people said and did on my side of the aisle (all those Bush as Hitler signs at anti-war protests,* for example) made me cringe and want to put a bag over my head.

*The teabaggers, not wanting to miss out on the Hitler meme, would later portray Obama as The Fuhrer, thus proving rank stupidity can reign supreme no matter what side you’re on.

Yes, I am familiar with the shenanigans that went on during the Bush years. However, I don’t recall it being this widespread and mainstream to the level that we see here. More specifically with regards to a focus group populated by average looking people. I certainly don’t remember Bush’s religion being question on mainstream television to this degree.

But let’s say there’s an exact opposite of this video regarding Bush. That wouldn’t change anything and what we see on display here is still wrong. It’s a bit like the cliche “two wrongs don’t make a right”. And for the record I once got into an argument with some nutcase that pulled the old “Bush is Hitler” meme.

Anyway, I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. The issue here isn’t Bush, it’s Obama and it’s been way to personal for far too long. And while I will gladly admit that there was a severe cases of Bush derangement during the Bush years the current onslaught of Obama derangement has reached record levels of vitriol and insanity.
