I certainly wish you were joking, but apparently someone actual spoke those words.

So "turn the other cheek" or "kill all the men and enslave all the virgins"?

3 SpaceJesus  Thu, Feb 10, 2011 4:28:35pm

Whatever. This shit ends in 25 years when the baby boomers are all dead.

So what do they say to men like my cousin's husband who is an Atheist and a former Marine? Fun story but what he apparently did when he got his dogtags was along with his twin brother put surfer as his religion on his tags.

My brother did that kind of thing when he was in the army. He made up various religious that ended with -ism to see if they'd make dogtags and apparently they did.

Yeah, that's cool. I'm sick of these religious bigots really. They want to make people who don't share their religious beliefs 2nd class citizens and it simply isn't right.

The GOP's all about making second class citizens. Non-christians, gays, immigrants, minorities, etc. It's asterisked next to the commonly used phrase "Returning to how America used to be".

No argument here. It's simply ridiculous really. I love that these same people accuse Obama of trying to remake America in his image yet here are they try to turn way back to the clock to a time where only White conservative Christians should enjoy freedom.

Oh that's easy. Those of us who served and say are entitled to VA or retirement benefits I'm sure would be stripped of them. And of course any honorable discharged we were granted would also be taken from us.

I remember during my second deployment I was the unit armorer in my Headquarters Troop and befriended some of the S-1 guys. We used to use their dog tag stamping machine to make all kinds of tags. Some we can't talk about in mixed company. For a while on my pair I had Reason as my religion of choice.

Ilario Pantano has an interesting background.

Politician's bloody background

It's like they're trying to resurrect the crusades.

That's because they are. They've been trying to do that since 9/11, and it's only gotten worse since Obama was elected, because these nutbars think he's Muslim.

Yea no one is afraid of Jesus Christ you idiot. People are extremely wary, though, of clinically insane megalomaniacs wrapping themselves in a Jesus Skin Coat and a Tri-Corner Flag hat as the backing for their latest nutball rant of the day.

You aren't Jesus. You aren't God. You don't speak for either one.

I suspect that a "Christian military" would be about as useful as the Pasdaran units were during the Iran-Iraq War. Useful for crossing minefields or becoming bridges over wire but not much else.

I wonder what the average Tea Party supporter would think if they knew Pantano used to work for Goldman Sachs.

It sounds like they don't want Jews in the military either, which means they don't want the contributions of people like Hyman Rickover. That said, I wonder how these "people" would like to consider having a non-nuclear Navy.

Hyman Rickover and countless others.

I don't think that a bunch of pro-Israel Christian conservatives are anti-Semites. Anti-Muslim, anti-secular, anti-gay, yes, but their anti-Semitism is overrated.
