1 First As Tragedy, Then As Farce  Feb 17, 2011 5:00:09pm

GOP: Feds mandating everyone have health insurance is terrible Stalinist tyranny, but forcing a procedure that is neither diagnostic nor therapeutic is A-OK. Never mind that there’s no indication how it’s going to be paid for. Weren’t they just howling their heads off 15 minutes ago about the dystopian Orwellian nightmare that lies right around the corner with the government mandating what health care you get?

Can these kinds of laws be challenged in court? Has anybody every attempted too?

It isn’t about more information. It’s about guilt and humiliation and forcing the idea on the woman that she’s aborting a person and not a zygote. It’s pure intimidation. They might as well burn a cross on her lawn or brand her forehead.

Meanwhile, the GOP body wants to eliminate access to birth control and private health plans that offer abortion services.

This leaves women as mindless, choiceless, child bearing vessels, and little else.

Actually, while I think those sorts of laws should be eradicated from the face of the earth, apparently the information actually makes many women feel better about an early term abortion.
I can’t find where I read that right now, but it does make sense in that the women can see what the actual stage of fetal development is.

The contempt of the GOP for women is absolute.

Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston, who authored the bill for the past two sessions, said the bill has been leavened with “wisdom, counsel and the hand of God.

First of all, which god? Second, this is a clear violation of The Constitution.
