Days of Protest and Rage Continue Across North Africa and Middle East (With Updates)
Protests, riots, and deaths continue in places like Yemen and Bahrain and Libya as regimes try to hang on to power.
In Egypt, where Mubarak was deposed a week ago, the army is consolidating power, but there are questions whether it will be willing to give up control over economic matters - particularly when the military has inserted itself into every aspect of the Egyptian economy.
The Iranian regime is also dealing with the possibility of further protests, and while there are some indications that the IRGC may be showing signs of being unwilling to open fire on the protesters, calls for the death of opposition leaders, including Mirhussein Mousavi continue unabated. The Basij may end up taking a lead role in enforcing the regime’s thuggery.
Bahrain’s regime continues holding on, and the funerals of those killed in protests yesterday are now rallying points for further demonstrations.
