Rush Limbaugh is Happy About My Impending Unemployment
Wonderful human being Rush Limbaugh descends from on high to weigh in on the budget crisis facing my University. Rush apparently considers public higher education to be “reckless spending.” Worse, he ridicules those who will lose their jobs at the University, and does so on the doubly dubious grounds that no one shows any sympathy for those who lose their jobs in the private sector. (It’s obviously not true that people lack sympathy for those who’ve lost jobs in the private sector. And that is of course irrelevant to whether one should ridicule a different group of people who are going to lose their jobs.)
Needless to say, Rush has not analyzed the budget. I guess to him, all public spending is by definition wasteful. Unlike, say, tax cuts for people who earn millions of dollars (like him).
Also, Rush doesn’t understand the meaning of the word ‘literal.’
