Unbelievable.

It’s an all-out war on women’s reproductive rights. These insane bills are popping up all over the country.

So the idea is to get abortion seekers into a private room and lie to them for an hour or however long the interview is. It is exceedingly transparent what they are doing.

Maybe someone could setup a secular center and get it approved. Depends on the approval process, probably.

OK. Seriously — after this, anyone who tries to tell me that the GOP is about smaller, more limited government and individual rights is full of it. They’re clearly all about infringing my rights as a woman, and about forcing government into my uterus.

Fuck these people. Ugh.

The funny thing is these places don’t work on women who have already decided that an abortion is what they want. I have a friend who was sent to one of these places in college. The showed her pictures of babies dressed up like flowers and bumble bees and gave her a sonogram. She had the abortion two days later and never had any regrets. She’s married with two children today and is even more glad she didn’t have a baby with her boyfriend at the time because like most women her taste in men is much better now. If she has had a child with a guy who would be in and out of jail, she would not have had two beautiful children with a guy who has a PhD and credit good enough to buy a house. Women who understand how much their lives will be altered for the worst by having a baby at the wrong time, won’t be swayed by these diversionary tactics.

Yes, but unfortunately, the scared South Dakotan 16-year-old who has no frame of reference to really understand the implications for her entire future of having a baby with the wrong guy at the wrong time is exactly the person who will be swayed.
It makes me furious.

This is true. Some of these people would like nothing more than to turn these young girls into “handmaidens” for older, infertile women who want to adopt. They blame abortion for the lack of adoptable infants, but in fact it’s teenagers keeping their babies that has created the shortage. Giving up a child is probably much more difficult than having an abortion.

Yeah, so much for “it’s just about the fiscal issues guys” line.

This is why when somebody tells me they are JUST a fiscal conservative, I call bullshit

Anti-choice legislation is always popping up on the state level, with the intent to force it to come before SCOTUS and overturn or roll back Roe.

It’s very much the same strategy creationists have adopted, and they learned it from the foes of Roe: you start small and take over one school board or one bill committee at a time.

Even so, I’ve never seen it quite this bad. South Dakota, what the hell is wrong with you?

No, but they may well be damaged by them. This will also apply to women like Jackie Speier, — mothers who wanted to have that child.

There’s only one reason to have this bill, and its to punish women. Mental torture.

In all of this pandering to the loons and haters that the GOP let sit at the table is one very important FACT left out of the whole kit and caboodle. If any female family member of any of these self righteous lawmakers needed an abortion it would be done. Illegal or otherwise. The forces at work here are cut from the same cloth as any hypocrite ever born. It’s very simple; Them. Then there is us.

So let’s see, we have an economy in the crapper and state budget crises galore and yet somehow it make sense to focus state legislatures on abortion bills?
