I had to laugh about the part where the older guys said Democrats were responsible for Jim Crow, segregation, etc.—not because it’s untrue, but because the focus was on party affiliation rather than ideology (Republicans at the time being the liberals and Democrats/Dixiecrats being the conservatives).

Don’t get too excited about this. Notice the guy at about 4:00 with the red shirt and mutton chops. He’s from the Ron Paul campaign and tells the guy to remove his Ron Paul button.

This is such a stupid and transparent, yet often used rhetoric. If the person has never heard of the Southern strategy, they’re an ignoramus who should keep their mouths shut. Otherwise, they’re just liars.

The mainstream Republicans also love to lay claim on Lincoln, as if todays’ R party had anything to do with the R party of Lincoln’s time (except formally). (Of course, the Southern Rs have these T-shirts with “Southern GOP - Lincoln’s Worst Nightmare”.)
