Not everything you read about food and farming is Malthausian.

It would be rare for a publisher of a trade magazine to not push the most optimistic future for the industries for which they publish.

That's true. But I think that Malthaus has somehow become our common sense when it comes to population and food. I could be wrong, but it sure seems that way.

Certainly not everything you read about food and farming is Malthusian, especially if you look at peer reviewed professional journals on agricultural research. In sources that emphasize the technology side, there is a lot of useful work being carried on at field level with very practical applications. USDA's Agricultural Research Service online newsletter often has worthwhile information on current research results also.

The difficulty in many cases is to see that the information is spread effectively to those who need it the most and can use it, after the methods are tested and verified. A while back I attended a seminar presented on sustainable agriculture by a group of young graduate students from several area universities. To see these promising, intelligent young people deeply involved in understanding and solving problems of sustainable food access was truly encouraging.

Then please post it. It's important information. It seems as though you are deeper into the subject than most. I think that Malthaus is closer to common sense--common sense defined as a widely held belief that is not necessarily accurate.

One of the issues on horizon is confront the fear of scarcity. If you can help do that, please.
