Nor can I understand why any Jewish paper would print this.

Because no paper has: INN is Arutz 7's online edition. And because they have no shame.

Not buying it one bit. No other Israeli outlet - TV, radio or internet - has touched on this. I consider Arutz 7/INN to be something of an Israeli version of Fox News mixed with the Inquirer, Breitbart and Geller (exemplified in its polls IMO: "Obama sees himself as: a Muslim Messiah", 50%+ [with 16% going to "bringing US values to the Arab world" and 29% going to "both"] ; "Israel needs: religious revival", with nearly 60%"; "Feminism needs: to go away and never return", 60% and other "gems").

Well, in recent discussions there have been complaints about YNET, Arutz Sheva, and Ha'aretz. It's only a matter of time before someone complains about the Post.

What's your favorite? I'm open to suggestions.

For the online editions (Ynet is Yediot Aharonot's online site, Walla is Ha'aretz' site and NRG is Ma'ariv's site) I tend to prefer Walla, simply on account of the fact that they were the first and the fastest with regards to updates (also, their tech section is the best). That said, NRG is the "smallest" and as such, the comments area tends to be more sane and much less inflammatory compared to some of those in Walla and certainly compared to Ynet.

With regards to the printed papers, Yediot and Ma'ariv are pretty much the same, with both becoming too "tabloid-ish" over the years for me to tolerate. For all its shortcomings, Ha'aretz is the more sophisticated of the bunch - nothing "tabloid-ish" like the others, and far better parts for music, art, business and so on. Can't say I've ever really read the Post, so can't really comment about it.

I have to point out that while Yediot Aharonot, Ma'ariv and Ha'aretz are national newspapers, Arutz 7/INN most certainly isn't (used to be a pirate radio channel, since then has focused on web broadcasts and websites) - it's printed edition is slim and aimed almost exclusively towards a relatively small number of religious communities, mostly Haredim from my understanding.

re: #3 Archangelus

My bookmarks are JPost, Ha'aretz, Arutz 7, and Ynet. I also check on Israel 21. On all of these I have to do quite a bit of sifting and cross referencing. I just want to get accuracy on the picture over there. Usually I post under the heading Middle East. I posted this story as Weird. I'll look at Ma'ariv again.

To get a sense of what is really going on there, I tend to focus on technological developments and trade agreements. These don't make the top headlines, and all have occasional stories about these things, without the need to sensationalize.

This was story was just weird. I felt the newsworthiness of this story was that this story even appeared. I still don't understand it.
