Most Profitable Mardi Gras Ever? - It’s Carnival Season
New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu expects his first Mardi Gras since taking office to be one of the city’s biggest and best. And after a little investigating, it looks like some local businesses agree.
Who better to judge the strength of Carnival season that the businesses that feed it? Daryl Fletchinger with Plush Appeal says so far business is up nearly 30%. He says,
“If you look at it just from a sales perspective, I think we’re doing record sales this year.”
Record crowds for Carnival could mean a record economic impact. Landrieu says that the economic impact of this year’s Carnival celebration on the city of New Orleans alone will likely will total $322 million.
