Gunfire Again Reported In Tripoli as Khadafi Holds On
It’s Friday in Libya and the opposition has again taken to the streets only to be fired upon by Khadafi loyalists with tear gas and reports of gunfire.
The Khadafi regime continues airstrikes against rebel positions in the country, trying to hold on to territory around Tripoli.
President Obama has come out with his strongest statements against Khadafi, calling his regime illegitimate and offering humanitarian assistance and logistical support for those fleeing. He also commended Tunisia and Egypt for providing assistance to the fleeing masses all while trying to formulate new governments.
Meanwhile, Anderson Cooper debunks some of Khadafi’s whoppers, including claims that the Libyan people were being drugged by al Qaeda or the US; apparently the drug proffered by Khadafi as proof was a moderate painkiller whose prime side effects are drowsiness and constipation - not exactly the kind of thing that would whip the masses into a frenzy.
