Texas Gov. Perry Closer to Solving ‘Emergency’

It would require many women who want an abortion — even victims of sexual assault — to have an ultrasound probe inserted into their uteruses at least 24 hours before the procedure. The method is used in early pregnancies, generally 10 weeks or less, opponents said.
State Rep. Carol Alvarado, D-Houston, carried an ultrasound wand onto the House floor during a debate Wednesday and in the debate on Thursday described in detail how it is used.
Another amendment designed to exempt victims of rape or incest from undergoing the sonogram went down on a 97-49 vote.
That’s right folks, Texas is on the verge of mandating that a woman who is raped and wants to obtain a lawful medical procedure to terminate that pregnancy must have an ultrasound wand inserted into her vagina before being allowed to have an abortion whether she likes it or not, effectively raping her again.
GOP lawmakers around the country seem to be having a contest for who can write the law that most shames and degrades women who are seeking an abortion. The Texas GOP is a clear frontrunner.
