German far-right candidate in bomb-building probe
A leading candidate from the far-right NPD party in an eastern German state is under investigation for allegations of posting bomb-building information online, government officials said Tuesday.
The news comes days before regional elections in the eastern German state of Saxony Anhalt.
Police and prosecutors have begun investigations into whether Matthias Heyder of the NDP party posted the information online using a pseudonym. The investigation is also checking into the posting of calls for violence against the wives of political opponents.
‘It is very, very obvious that this is about Heyder,’ said Holger Hoevelmann, the state’s interior minister, a member of the Social Democrat party.
