Clinton: UN no-fly zone requires bombing Libya
The discussion on Libya heats up
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says a U.N. no-fly zone over Libya would require the bombing of targets to take out the threat posed by Moammar Gadhafi’s regime.
Clinton told reporters in Tunisia the specifics of international action against Gadhafi were still being negotiated at the United Nations in New York.
She said Thursday that intense talks were occurring. But she cautioned that a proposed no-fly zone “requires certain actions taken to protect the planes and the pilots, including bombing targets like the Libyan defense systems.”
