In 1996, scientists pointed the Hubble telescope at a small area of the sky, about the size of a grain of salt. Expecting to find vast dark space, they instead found three thousand galaxies all containing hundreds of billions of stars each. In 2003-04, with better filters, they pointed the Hubble at another tiny area of sky and found ten thousand galaxies. There is a 3D rendering of Hubble ultra deep field towards the end. It is still the most magnificent thing i have ever seen.
