Planned Parenthood official: Politics behind measure to gut funding
Lawmakers looking to end public funding for Planned Parenthood have been rebuffed so far in Concord and Washington.
The threat still looms large, and if the politicians prevail, they will leave New Hampshire citizens with a hefty price to pay, according to officials from the national family planning organization.
State legislators, looking to block public funding from reaching Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers, have opted to retain the proposal for further study rather than put it to a vote this session.
They could reintroduce the proposal after several months, or even include it in their budget proposal over the coming weeks, Steve Trombley, president of Planned Parenthood’s northern New England branch, warned Wednesday at a meeting with The Telegraph editorial board in Hudson.
