Illinois Republican sends Anti-Abortion Bill to Agriculture Commitee
Where it was passed. Unanimously.
How Republicans See Women
You find them everywhere, even in President Obama’s home state, Republicans who will stoop to anything to treat women like breeding stock. I suppose Rep. Darlene Senger, R-Naperville is just a bit more honest than most (which is not saying much). The Chicago Tribune reports that Ms. Senger submitted a bill – anti-abortion legislation mind, which would require clinics that perform more than 50 abortions a year to meet the same regulatory requirements as other medical outpatient surgery clinics – to the House Agriculture and Conservation Committee.
Yes. An anti-abortion bill submitted to the House Agriculture and Conservation Committee.
Why, you ask?
Because the agriculture committee is dominated by conservative downstate Democrats and Republicans.
And guess what? They passed it: unanimously.
Colleen Connell, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois and other opponents wore T-shirts that said “Women are not livestock,” but that obvious fact wasn’t enough to stop the agriculture committee from ruling against them.
Women, after all, are only breeding stock. I suppose they figure, why not call a spade a spade? Maybe they will legislate against shoes in the kitchen next and put limits on periods of non-pregnancy in order to keep the progeny popping out at a suitable rate. Animal breeding is, after all, controlled.
Sara Feigenholtz, D-Chicago says that the bill should have gone to Health Care Availability Access Committee.
