So in other words, he thinks the Founding Fathers of America are the only entities in all history that should be allowed to grant us “unalienable rights”?

Do you think that electricity and gas are a right?

If so then we can all stop paying our bills….

I can see where if there are children involved the heat can’t be shut off in winter cold weather, but at some point the bills have to be paid.

Well, if they want to help me pay those bills through taxes, I have no problem with that. Maybe in the future the favor will be returned to me. All it takes is a spell of unemployment, a debilitating sickness or a bad accident to become too poor to pay for necessities.

But, hell, I’m one of those bleeding heart liberals. Beats having no heart at all though.

Why do you hate America?

A right? Not exactly Buck.

A necessity? I would say yes I’ve had heat and electricity and I’ve gone without both. Without both in the dead of winter. I lay odds you have not.
I did not go without because I would not pay them. I went without because I could NOT afford to pay for them. My oil bill was running $200/mo. NOT a year, a MONTH. And that was with barely using it.

I’ve also gone with out both because my then husband (Now ex) refused to allow me to have heat and electricity when he was not at home. So, I know what sitting in a house in the dark, with no heat, no electricity, no nothing is like. Not because I wanted to do this, but because it was forced upon me. Either by a now ex husband or because of circumstances.

Yes, bills must be paid. But there must come a point where we help one another. The electric company I use allows each person who pays their bills to donate $1.00 or more to help others who have trouble paying their bills. The same with the company that provides my heat through gas does the same thing. They are realizing that not everyone can afford to pay for those things which even the Government agencies deem to be necessities. (Heat, electricity and food) These are the things that as one who receives public assistance they have deemed I NEED.

I’m a Canadian. We’re all commies, except for our Dear Leader, and so we have to hate America. It’s built into the mind control implants they stick in us when we’re kids. ///

Those are my monthly utility bills, even without much use, because the duplex I live in is old and poorly insulated. It’s been hell on my student loan budget.

I can’t wait to finish grad school next year so I can move somewhere with more affordable monthly bills.

All lovely stories. I am glad that you got out of that clearly abusive relationship sadangel, but I don’t think that you would support the idea that the government should have enabled your abusive husband by paying for his heat and electricity?

The solution to helping people in poverty is never been to just let people stop paying their bills.

You want to say I am heartless, but you don’t know me at all.

I’m the one who called you ‘heartless’, Buck. So leave my wife alone and pick on the right person.

re: #9 Buck

Back away from your computer and keyboard Buck.
Now, reread what I wrote in post # 6.

Now, tell me where in that post I actually said either of these two things:
1. That you are heartless?
2. The we should stop paying bills?

I’ll wait while you find it.

*taps foot*
Still waiting

*taps foot more*
Still waiting.
