Expanded: Sharron Angle meets the press in Reno in call for ‘mutual respect’ | Reno Gazette-Journal | rgj.com
Angle also admitted to calling the media “lame stream” on a Las Vegas radio showing, adding with an ever-present smile, “We were just playing with them.”
Angle showed a conciliatory side, giving her reasons for her actions during the campaign and hoping that the past can be put in the past.
“I am hoping that we will have a deep regard for each other,” Angle said. “That is why I wanted to do this event and invite you to have a time set aside just for us to talk and for you to ask me these questions so we can get out on the right foot.”
The news conference was something Angle had to do to be a serious contender for Congress, some political experts said.
“One of the lessons that she had to learn in her most recent defeat is that you can’t run away and ignore the media,” said Eric Herzik, chairman of the political science department at the University of Nevada, Reno. “You can’t try to use the media only for your fundraising and make statements like ‘I only want to answer the questions I want to answer.’ ”
