State Dept Introduces New Envoy to Muslim Nations
Sada Cumber, now a U.S. citizen, was born in Pakistan. His job is to “promote mutual understanding and dialogue between the United States and Muslim communities around the world.” One of his first official duties will be to attend the 11th Annual OIC Conference in Dakar, Senegal, on March 13-14.
President Bush announced Cumber’s appointment on February 28. At the time, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters that the OIC is an “important organization” with an “instructive role to play in the world.”
Perino said that by naming Cumber as special envoy, President Bush was “signaling our desire to have a greater dialogue with the organization as well as Muslims around the world.”
