"Exodus is a Christian ministry that supports those wanting to reconcile their faith with their sexual behavior."

Better question, is why the hell should they have to reconcile their innate sexuality to be accepted by their church? This is tiresome and degrading.

There are Christian churches out there that don't treat homosexuals like the scourge of the earth. I know Tammy Fay Bakker's son, Jay Bakker, has been a reasonable and compassionate voice on the subject, and his church welcomes gays. But his isn't the only game in town (NYC). There are others.

For all those conflicted religious gays out there, here's something to chew on: Maybe it isn't you that's fucked up. You throw that fundie app in the shitter where it belongs, and find faith and acceptance elsewhere.

"We see this as a religious freedom."

Apple has no obligation to provide a platform for your demented beliefs.

HOW DARE APPLE TRAMPLE THIER FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS WITH THEIR CAPITALISM!

When the app was initially submitted to apple, it was deemed to have no objectionable material whatsoever. This sudden change of heart is in response to a widely publicised petition and has nothing to do with developer guidelines. As despicable as Exodus's views may be, removing the app amounts to censorship.

How is it censorship? Can't Apple do what they want with their technology? And can't Exodus communicate their hate elsewhere, using some other technology? (They don't own Apple.)

How is it censorship?

As i mentioned earlier, they initially accepted Exodus's app, as it did not contravene developer guidelines - only to withdraw it because of a public backlash. Removing an app that does not violate any previously-held agreement, no matter how unsavoury that app may be, is censorship. Sure, apple can do what it wants, but the bottom line is that apple has a notoriously stringent vetting system; if they did not like the app, they should have rejected it when it was submitted and not weeks later.

And why stop with this particular app, which merely attempts to "save" homosexuals? The bible advocates the death penalty for gays; does apple have a case for removing bible apps?

The fact that they changed their mind is what makes it censorship?

You aren't a constitutional scholar, or a lawyer of any sort, are you?

That's not what I said. Removing an app because ppl object to its content is censorship. Naturally, for it to have been removed, apple must have changed its mind.

Exodus Int'l can cry me a damn river. Okay, they don't have an app but they can still publicize their hateful message. When their website and organization is shut down then they can cry about religious freedom being attacked. And honestly, I Think they're pathetic if they need a smartphone app to promote their message. I mean really. Something they claim is God's work is something they need a smartphone to promote?
