Getting the Labor out of Labor in Maine
Sensitive Maine Governor LePage has actually removed from the state department of Labor a mural that, he claims, offended Maine’s business community because it depicted…. Labor. Yes, there was imagery of labor in the Labor department. Quick! Call out the censors.
In a stunning moment of sophisticated art criticism, an anonymous member of the public apparently told LePage that the mural reminded him of art in North Korea where images are used to brainwash the masses. As an art historian, I am impressed by the vast knowledge of art in isolated nutcase cultures that average Maine residents apparently possess. The Maine artist who painted the mural must be a sekrit North Korean. Sounds like Koran, doesn’t it? Beck and Jones, check into this!
No more working people to be depicted in labor departments. Labor should be outlawed. People in Maine should be unemployed, or possibly slaves.
