Tempest in a teapot, I believe. All these groups are funded by special interests, Think Progress as well.

The Economist has a very good article on the WS piece you reference:

Money and politics: The Koch brothers and the progressive master narrative

I look for quality of the content. The latest left/right breathless J’accuse wears thin quickly.

Will W. himself, as he readily admits, has worked for these Koch funded/influenced organizations. I think Will often takes too rosy of a picture of actors in general, not being old enough to have accepted how really self-centered humans are.

I too am leery of making the Kochs into some sort of super-villains, but it is true that they have played a rather significant role in American politics of the past few years in certain subject matters.

A role that will only increase in the wake of Citizens United. I don’t think the Koch brothers ought to be boogeymen in the way that SoRoS is for the right, but they’re certainly busy out there.

ON the contrary, the Kochs are more wealthy than Soros, completely self serving and utterly whacko. They own major portions of the looniest elements of th GOP. Is it really a surprise that Koch created tea-party brought back the Koch (sr.) created John Birch Society?

The Koch brothers are one of the greatest forces of organized evil and behind the scenes power brokering and propaganda out there. Even if you count Soros as a bad guy (he really isn’t) he does not hold a candle to the political power or influence of the Kochs.
