A Jim Hoft post once again proves what it actually tries to disprove
Jim Hoft, The Gateway Pundit, has a post up today touting a big Media Matters “FAIL.” According to Jim (isn’t that the name of a sitcom?), Media Matters’ “first big hit piece on Fox News” claims to have exposed the fact Fox’s Managing Editor Bill Sammons’ calling President Obama a socialist.
The only thing is, what Media Matters claimed to have exposed was Sammons admitting that the “socialism” barb against Obama was “far fetched.”.
Below is the text in toto, minus the idiotic Obama/Joker/Socialist poster from 2009:
Hah-Hah! Media Matters, the dumbest website on the internet, released their first big hit piece on FOX News today…
It was supposed to be a major story. But, it wasn’t even a squeaker. Media Matters’ frst big hit piece today was on FOX executive Bill Sammons who once said that Obama was a socialist. Reallly, Media Matters? Really?
It’s not exactly a secret.
The internet’s dumbest website’s first big hit piece was that a FOX contributor thought that maybe Obama was a socialist?
Oh, good grief.Speaking in 2009 onboard a pricey Mediterranean cruise sponsored by a right-wing college, Fox Washington managing editor Bill Sammon described his attempts the previous year to link Obama to “socialism” as “mischievous speculation.” Sammon, who is also a Fox News vice president, acknowledged that “privately” he had believed that the socialism allegation was “rather far-fetched.”
“Last year, candidate Barack Obama stood on a sidewalk in Toledo, Ohio, and first let it slip to Joe the Plumber that he wanted to quote, ‘spread the wealth around,’ ” said Sammon. “At that time, I have to admit, that I went on TV on Fox News and publicly engaged in what I guess was some rather mischievous speculation about whether Barack Obama really advocated socialism, a premise that privately I found rather far-fetched.”
Didn’t George Soros just blow $1 million on this group?
Nice going, George.
Uh…Jim, Bill Sammons is a bit more than just a “contributor.”
Media Matters has shown previously how evidence Jimbo presents often makes the opposite case, and this is yet another instance.
Poor Jim Hoft. Oh poor, POOR Jim Hoft…
