When Fox finally drops him, his meltdown will be epic.

I just want him to lose the battle with the voices in his head and scream at a wall for, oh, 9 hours blowing foam like he’s chewing a jar of Brioschi. From 18 different angles in surround sound. In HD. No? Yes? No? Yes? Yes? No?

I truly think that Glenn Beck has a mental illness, and that Fox simply doesn’t give a shit so long as he brings the ratings. Hell, they’d probably televise his meltdown if they could.

Clearly it’s his popularity is why we hate him. It’s not the fact that he’s a nut that doesn’t have a clue what the fuck he’s talking about.

I think the liberals who watched his show for comedy finally stopped laughing and quit watching. He’s still got his base of gullible idiots who believe anything he says.

I think you’re right and generally I have a great deal of sympathy for folks who struggle with mental issues. I’m making an exception in this case. Probably not very nice of me, I know.

Thing is if you’ve seen one or two Beck shows, you’ve seen them all. It’s the same thing day in and day out so why keep tuning in?

Honestly, I don’t. I just think he’s an exceptionally good actor. Anecdotal evidence for this? The way he tones himself down and weasel-words (no offense, heh) his MSM interviews (e.g. the slimy, repugnant way he avoided Katie Couric’s “what did you mean by white culture” question). He’s perfectly capable of controlling himself when he wants to, and projecting a less whacked-out persona.

I certainly wouldn’t rule out a personality disorder, however - sociopathic or narcissistic, for one.

In the world of TV, ratings are of paramount importance. Sadly, there are shows on TV that get ratings, but are basically crap (Jerry Springer, anyone?). And most TV execs would put a steaming pile of shit on the air if they could count on it drawing an audience. So even if Beck is losing a good chunk of his audience, he will have to lose a lot more viewers for Mr Ailes to cancel his show. But once the execs at FOX determine that his numbers are too low, they will show him no compassion as they usher him out the door. And then Glenn will have one more conspiracy theory to add to his collection.

I think there will be a somewhat amicable divorce. Fox could get someone who can get and keep advertisers, Beck goes off and creates an unassailable web empire. Both will be happy financially. Beck will get advertisers when he goes podcast city because they know that no boycott will really hurt him when the true believers will have to pay to hear him, he will be free to be as crazy as he wants round the clock.

Even if they make his hour into extended election coverage, waiting to get a replacement when the election is over, they will finally be able to get big money like Coke and Pepsi again.

Breaking News:

Beck’s ratings down 30%, pants down 50%, drooling up 200%.

You’re probably right, but I always think of that whacked out youtube video he made from his hospital bed.
