How a Zune tablet could beat Apple and Android
Back on March 14, Microsoft confirmed plans to discontinue making its Zune player, a device that arrived a little too late to be a successful challenger to Apple’s iPod, but nonetheless had plenty of fans. At least enough that Microsoft still sees value in the brand and platform.
Plenty of fans? Sorry, but this guy is on drugs if he thinks a Zune tablet would have any chance of changing the momentum Apple has already built in this device category. The original Zune failed because it was way too little, way too late to even matter. A Zune tablet (or slate, as Steve Ballmer is fond of calling them) would have to be released today to even stand a chance of gaining a small foothold in this category. Apple completely owns the tablet market at this time. Even Android-based tablets are struggling to gain any market share. Microsoft has not released anything relevant in quite some time and I don’t see them getting any closer to achieving this with Windows Phone 7 or Kin or anything else that has come out of Redmond recently. The one exception might be Kinect.
By the way, some of the comments for this article are hilarious.
