Saudi Arabia Greenlights Mile High Skyscraper
While the Middle East roils in revolts, uprisings, protests, and general mayhem, and the Saudis are keeping a watchful eye on their neighbors lest the problems spread beyond the regime’s control, the Saudis have just greenlighted a project to build the world’s tallest skyscraper that when complete would stand a mile high.
It would be the centerpiece of a new development in Jedda.
This is hardly the first time that a project of this size has been proposed. Frank Lloyd Wright once proposed a mile-high skyscraper for Chicago back in the 1950s.
It could also be seen as a way to claim a bit of glory from Dubai’s Burj Dubai (Kafira), which is currently the world’s tallest skyscraper by a significant margin.
