And now, for something different: Recommended Readings
While reading the How Ayn Rand ruined my childhood page, I noted that Paul Ryan and Clarence Thomas requires their staffers and clerks, respectively, to read Rand’s books. They are in their prerogative to set their standards for their employees. It’s just an interesting footnote. It’s not unheard off that people require certain readings from their employees.
And now, for something different: If you were in Ryan’s or Thomas’ position, what books or authors would you recommend or require?
If I had to recommend a book, I’d most probably recommend A Treatise on Toleration and Other Essays by Voltaire. Especially the Treatise on Toleration and the editor’s footnotes on it.
