And being POTUS is a privilege that Rick Santorum will never be entitled to, so it all balances out.

I would suggest that even if you thought a child would be better off with two different gender parents, it may well be that if single or same sex people aren’t allowed to adopt, that child won’t have any parents at all, which is the worst option.

Good God, the man is actually right. Adopting children is a privilege. Nobody is just entitled to it. All prospective adoptive parents should be screened and then trained, a lot.

But pulling out that line about gay parents? So old. Every study has shown it’s wrong. I’ve argued before that gay parents are actually the superior choice for adopting the sorts of children usually available now, children with FAS or drug-addicted parents, kids from orphanages or multiple foster placements. Gay couples don’t expect our families to be “normal” and “perfect,” and we are much more ready to adapt, restrategize, and look for help where a straight couple might well try to dig in, deny problems, and hide anything “different” about their child.

You know, I’m starting to think he isn’t worthy of being called a frothy mixture

I’m with Dan Savage on gay adoption:

And while I’m at it, here Dan Savage explains the origins of “Santorum”:

I love Dan Savage.

As someone who has gay friends and has a gay cousin raising children, I raise a heartfelt FU to Santorum.

So my friend was better off with his abusive father and in jail half the time mother than he would have been with gay adoptive parents?

Ah yes, children are a privilege for some, but a requirement for others, whether they want them or not.
Santorum is almost not worth the time or electrons necessary to post this, but I just have to register my disapproval of this stupidity.

The Prop 8 trial judge did a nice job in pointing out that there is zero evidence that gay parents underperform straight parents. He demolished that argument.

Isn’t Charles Manson the head of the FAMiLY? Hmmm. :-)

Don’t bring your godless science into this with its sciency facty stuff and fancy “studies”. God told the Founding Fathers Prophets that children were to be kept by a male father and female mother, no matter the squalour or whether the child is being beaten half to death on a regular basis. Now get back in the kitchen.

So when a family decides to starve their kids and/or let them die of an easily cured disease for religious reasons, it isn’t the government’s place to dictate or intervene in a private family’s business.

Unless the parents are gay. Then the government can restrict them any way it feels necessary.

Glad we could clear that up.

The only thing sadder than anyone saying crap like this is anyone believing it - including the creep who said it in the first place. Even worse is anyone acting on it! Mere words cannot suffice to expound on the hatred I feel for this slimebag. But let me try: he’s only a couple steps above Fred Phelps in my book, & I’m already on the Facebook page about “demonstrating at Fred Phelps’ funeral.
