My father, may he rest in peace, declared many times that a person’s true character is revealed in his/her feelings towards Jews. In advocating for Israel, Mr. Johnson shows himself to be a mensch. Israel’s right to defend itself is being increasingly challenged. Borders are a side issue. The nations surrounding Israel do not want Israel to exist. Period. Yet Israel will prevail because of its moral and spiritual strength. I live in Jersualem and am continualy humbled by the self-sacrifice and humility of the people around me. There is no one I know who would not give the shirt off his back to someone in need, even to a complete stranger. That is the nature of this people. And yet we have been portrayed as bloodthirsty ogres. Every centimeter of Gaza was surrendered to the Arabs. in the vain hope that this would bring peace, and the Arabs immediately launched thousands of missiles from where Jewish villages had once flourished. And when Israel fought back, it was accused of war crimes. Now more territory is being demanded, more land from which to launch more missiles. Unfortunately, the Israeli press is far left, all three major Israeli newspapers basically read like the New York Times. And many people here are also blind and still believe that territorial concessions will bring peace. If every bit of land except a small parcel in Tel Aviv was given to the Arabs, they would want that parcel too. It’s always about being sensitive to Arab pride, just as US is criticized for killing Bin Laden because now Arab pride has been damaged. Why not just relinquish the whole world to the Arabs? Maybe then their pride would be restored. The US is misguided in its attempts to placate the terrorist regimes in Iran and Syria. The US and Israel should join ranks to oust terrorist regimes wherever they exist.
