You might want to dial this back a few notches on the intensity meter. This is just a suggestion.

I understand your anger, I’m angry too. I understand your frustration, I’m also frustrated. But putting such intense feelings onto a website rather than into some type of meditative activity (which some would call prayer), isn’t going to help matters.

I’m willing to wager that you know the prayer Dayan Ha-emet. You might want to start there, because it always leads to introspection, which always leads to another prayer. That’s the best place to begin.

From your essay, it appears as though your anger has gotten the best of you. I don’t know if this is true. But it’s not an unreasonable conclusion to draw.

We should take solace in the dayan HaEmet prayer, and do nothing more, regardless of what happens? Is that your point?

Actually, my point is that going over the top on this website is probably not the best strategy to fight the worldwide epidemic of Antisemitism.

Since you mentioned that you live in Jerusalem, I’m assuming that your are religious, as am I. However, if you feel that prayer is something we do to achieve solace, then I believe we have different views on the nature of Judaism. Of course, any disagreement on this subject is rare and shocking. But it has happened before, once or twice.

“In each generation they rise up to destroy us.”

Unfortunately in each generation of Jews there are also going to be the ones who figure “relax, don’t take it so seriously”.

We need to take it very seriously. Fortunately, we have Torah, which tells us exactly what to be serious about. Unfortunately, we tend to ignore that part. Hence, they keep rising up. Our greatest obstacles to learning are Sunday schools, Hebrew schools, and day schools. I’ve tried to teach all three. It’s sad. I don’t even want to go into how sad it is, it’s that sad.

I don’t have any clue what you are talking about. When someone says to you:

The US is misguided in its attempts to placate the terrorist regimes in Iran and Syria. The US and Israel should join ranks to oust terrorist regimes wherever they exist.

You say what in response?

Pray, and something about “Sunday schools, Hebrew schools, and day schools” ?

I really don’t understand the connection. You don’t have to explain it. I just thought you should know I didn’t understand you.

Because we weren’t talking politics, we were talking about religion. That’s not your thing.

In response to your hypothetical—

The US has a population of—what, 300 million. Economically it could still be the strongest in the world. It has the largest, best trained army. If it wants, unlimited industrial productive capability. It has weapons in hiding the world hasn’t even seen. If it wants to fight a quick war with Iran and Syria, it could, and win in 3 weeks.

All of the above is not the case with Israel or the Jewish people. So, for many Jews, the question becomes, how have we survived these thousands of years? We can rule out more intelligence, because we know how we are. Other nations think we have some super mind control power. In other words, it’s almost not rational or logical that we should even be here.

It was a question that perplexed the Dali Lama. And then he asked us a question that, at the time, perplexed us, and is still perplexing us. Hence the reference to our educational institutions.
