I was perturbed till I read Serwers last remarks,

President Obama has a “fear of free black men,” says the celebrity professor from Princeton by way of Harvard, explaining why the president feels “at home” among people who are not black. This remark made me wonder: Which of these men do you think, is actually free, and which afraid of who he truly is?

Professor West may be quite erudite in his field of study.

He would do best to keep his focus on that.

Cornell West has become really annoying. He and Tavis Smiley are both pissed because Barack doesn’t court them or other so-called black leaders. It’s not his thing and his election has made them largely irrelevant, which is fine because they never did anything but talk anyway. Barack Obama has spent a lot more time around poor black people on the Southside of Chicago and married a black woman from that same neighborhood. Why would he do that if he wasn’t comfortable with black people? West is engaging in the same nonsense as those who say Obama has a Kenyan world view. They can’t figure him out so they just make shit up.

Allow me to translate: “If you do not do things the way I would like you to do them, I will turn my academic jargon upon you, and suggest you are inadequately black.”

Cornell’s written some very interesting stuff, and he’s smart as hell. This, though, I think comes from personal issues, and not real insight.
