Hamas: Obama speech total failure
Hamas doesn’t need democracy lessons from American president, terror group says
Oh well, best laid plans. Now Abbas is caught betwixt and between.

No, Abbas is a willing participant. His only problem with Hamas was obviously political, and not philosophical. If Abbas was convinced, on a moral level, that Israel must be recognized to have a right to exist within secure borders, he could not possibly have entered into an alliance with Hamas.

Lest there be any doubt on this point, here is a UPI report this past Saturday concerning Abbas’ position:
RAMALLAH, West Bank, May 14 (UPI) — The Palestinians will never renounce the right of return to their former homes in Israel, President Mahmoud Abbas declared Saturday.

There’s no question that if the PLO, then Hamas, weren’t intent on destroying Israel, there would have been peace decades ago. Not only that, but there would have been such an intermingling of who-lives-where that it would mirror the relationship between New York and Connecticut, or New York and New Jersey.
There wouldn’t be two countries, but closer to two counties.
The speech was a good speech, stating the obvious.
