I want her arrested and tried for treason.

That’s a bit much, but I heartily disagree with her. This is similar to her support of Iran as well. She seems to like any tyrant who is opposed to President Obama. For some reason this is getting re-tweeted a lot

Cynthia McKinney is an idiot. Always has been, always will be.

Of course it’s getting re-Tweeted. She’s proof that the left wants to destroy America, don’tcha know.

Democracy is a beautiful thing, although you can’t help but question it when we, the people, elect people like this loon.

To the credit of the people in her former district, she was unelected. Contrary to popular belief there is no widespread anti-semitism in the AA community. Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN) is a very good example of this. He resoundingly beat an opponent who tried to use his being Jewish against him back in 2008. His majority black district wasn’t having it by 85%. He’ll represent that district as long as he wants.

I despised her with enthusiasm when I lived in Georgia. It was sickening to see her in the Savannah St Patrick’s Day parade.

I’m a huge fan of Steve’s but I’m not as sure as you are about the safety of his seat. The black church establishment is a huge power broker in Memphis and Cohen is too socially liberal for them. They will always try and run a socially conservative Democrat against him in the primary and again as an independent in the general, so he’s in effect got to run twice.

They tried and failed in 2008 with the backing of the Ford Family’s political machine and money. They could find a better candidate in the future, but he has Obama’s backing and that was enough for most in the district. The black church is fairly conservative, but if they had that much clout AA’s wouldn’t vote 90% Democratic in the first place. Economic and social justice messages are far more appealing to black voters than the socially conservative ones. Here at home we had a white openly gay man, Ed Oakely, as our city council member for years until he lost a mayoral election and retired from politics. He was very well liked and no amount of some black preachers not liking him hurt him. So long as Cohen keeps voting in his constituents best interests and gets the right endorsements, he’ll be fine.

A former U.S. congresswoman slammed U.S. policy on Libyan state TV late Saturday and stressed the “last thing we need to do is spend money on death, destruction and war.”

That much is true. Maybe she should tell Gadhafi that, too.

She’s buuthurt because sane Democrats like Barack Obama want nothing to do with her. She thinks Obama should help her out, as a gesture of racial solidarity, but Obama treats her like the radioactive twit she is.

One of McKinney’s more bizarre conspiracy claims is that several thousand black convicts were massacred in Lousisiana after Hurricane Katrina. Interestingly enough, her tale bears a striking resemblance to an episode in Harry Turtledove’s alternate history, The Victorious Opposition. This is set in the 1930s, in a world where the Confederacy won the Civil War and lasted into the 1940s.

The number of victims is the same, about 5000, and they are almost all men. In both cases, the victims are trucked into a swamp and shot, and their bodies left unburied. In both cases, there is a huge cover-up and dark rumblings in the rumor mill. McKinney attributes this to federal authorities, while in Turtledove’s story the atrocity is the work of Confederates launching a Holocaust type genocide against blacks. The Victorious Opposition was published in 2003, two years before Katrina and 4 years before McKinney made her claims.

I think she was elected. In fact, I know that she was—since she used to be my Representative. You’re making me go through my mind’s Deleted Files. Let’s just say it was complicated, but we (her former district) worked it out.
