President and governor to speak at memorial service today in Joplin
President Barack Obama is to be in Joplin today to participate in a 2 p.m. memorial service for those who lost their lives in last weekend’s tornado.
The public is invited to the service at the Taylor Performing Arts Center on the campus of Missouri Southern State University.
No tickets are required to enter the venue, which will open at 11:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Missouri National Guard.
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will speak at the service and Obama will make brief remarks. They will be joined by local clergy, with music and prayer.
