I went to their voting site, entered an Ohio zip code, and voted for one of the non-God stickers. ;-)

It's the answer to those who say "What's wrong with prayer in public school?" Which God? Which prayer? So many choices and such little time to consider the reality of it all. Some Gods are angry and mean. Some are gentle. Some are even women. Some are all that is and all to come. Some are jealous and will smite you down just for shits and giggles. Some want to destroy you because they are evil. Decisions, decisions.

They really don't understand this separation of church and state thing, do they?

When voters turn on these dark-age throwbacks, I'll fight to keep the republican party alive. But, only if they grant me exclusive rights to sell tickets.

The traveling geek-&-freak shows of yore are back, baby! Yeah!

They should change it to "With God, you will believe anything."

With all due respect, please refrain from making statements such as these as there are people such as myself who are Christians and are offended by such blanket statements against all Christians.

Thank you.

I'm sorry, I will not refrain. I resent the tsunami of insults and calumnies directed every day against secularists by millionaire evangelists and various other religionists. I do not ask them to hold their peace, though, because my feelings are not their responsibility, at least not to such an extent that they should refrain from expressing their own feelings and opinions.

With that out of the way, I would be disappointed if this were eliminated because of some grousing from an atheist lawyer who might be offended. In fact, if you aren't offended in the voting booth, you are probably not paying attention to the candidates or the issues.

I am not the millionaire evangelist or preacher who fleeces their flock. I am not the religionists who insult you. I am a simple human being who is a member of LGF and is asking you to refrain on that basis alone...while you are HERE. Say what you want elsewhere.

I've been holding back for months, as Romantic Heretic can tell you on saying anything toward the Lizards who keeps slamming Christians. It seems to be the Lizard's favorite past time these days. When they are not slamming the Repugnant wing-nuts. I'm tired of saying nothing. I either say something and express how I am feeling or I leave LGF because I am not welcome here as a Christian. Not welcome and not respected.

I don't insult atheists, agnostics or anyone of any other religion. That is not what I do. Not because I am a Christian, but because it is not in my nature to do so.

I'm only asking for some mutual respect from other Lizards. Guess that may have been too much to ask for.

That's what makes voting so powerful...

Well, by lumping all Christians together the way you are you are acting just like the 'millionaire evangelists and various other religionists'. You are assuming that those with a different point of view from yours are all alike and all equally evil.

What's that old Taoist saying? Oh yes. "What you resist, you become."

I know that. Sorry I said anything at all. I'll do what I should have done months ago.

Be who you are and have thicker skin. Lighten up. Your life is in it's actions and that is what is missed by most. This is an arena that will allow you to say your say and snark or enlighten. Have fun and be you. You'd never be a ref with skin like that.

And with that, my wife and I are out of here.

We discussed this last night and she pointed out, correctly in my belief, that had people said the same thing about Muslims or Jews that people said here about Christians they'd be thoroughly shellacked by the other lizards and maybe banned. But it seems to be all right to lump all Christians into one big evil 'Them!'

I'm not a Christian. I'm an agnostic. But I've met plenty of good, big-hearted Christians. Just as I've met good, big-hearted people of every other religious creed and ethical belief. I've met ones who were the exact opposite. I'll take people as individuals, not as groups. It works better that way.

But, since not a single lizard defended my wife when she was attacked I'll work from the assumption that the lizards feel otherwise, at least as far as Christians are concerned.

So we're gone.

I'm sorry sadangel felt attacked. I don't see what qualifies as an attack on her nor on Christianity. There was a comment that could be seen as disrespectful of people who believe in God. As was pointed out, God is not exclusive to Christians. A comment about believers from a skeptic is certainly subject to discussion, and a request to narrow down a broad brush is fair, but such a request is also subject to discussion.

I hope you both will reconsider. I think you are both good commenters to have here.

P. S.

It may not be fair to judge "the lizards" by what happens on a Page thread on a holiday weekend. Most of them never saw this.

re: #18 wrenchwench

I generally feel people can work stuff out themselves, unless it's just outright abusive.

I don't agree with lumping all Christians into one group, and I've said that quite often. There's an innate difference between the Christian groups that feel like they know what god wants in highly specific social terms, and those for whom religious should be kept out of the political sphere. There's multifarious distinctions beside that.
